Ontario families eager to become cord blood educated had two opportunities to learn about Insception Lifebank last month. Educational seminars were held at the Harmony Medical Health Centre in Ottawa as well as the headquarters of Insception Lifebank in Mississauga. This month it’s Alberta’s turn.
Today at 6:00pm MT, a new cord blood education session kicks off in Calgary at the Rockview Professional Centre off Glenmore Trail Southwest. All families that come for the session will be able to speak with a Registered Nurse who is cord blood educated, and attendees will also participate in an hour long seminar explaining the benefits of both cord blood and cord tissue banking.
Some of the topics you can expect to be discussed include:
• What is cord blood
• What is cord tissue
• Why is cord blood or cord tissue banking important for the family
• How does the collection process work
• Where is the banked sample stored after it is collected
Specialists may even discuss some of the ongoing trials currently testing if cord blood stem cells or hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) can be used to improve the lives of people living with leukaemia, lymphoma, cerebral palsy, autism, Type 1 Diabetes, and many other conditions. Newer trials testing the benefits of cord tissue stem cell or mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) may also be up for discussion.
If you and your family are unable to attend the Calgary education session, don’t worry. There are many online education seminars also available for the cord blood curious, which can be attended from the comfort of your own home. These sessions typically occur once a month, and can be attended after one quick online registration.
Become cord blood educated and make a decision that can help improve the security of your family!
