Back in January, it felt like the winter would never end! Now, with June finally here, the summer vibe is in the air and we’re looking forward to days at the beach, picnics in the park and planning new stroller routes! Following our winter pregnancy guide, here’s our summer pregnancy guide — updated for the season.

Here are our suggestions for getting through the hotter months of your pregnancy unscathed!

  1. Dress for the weather. Unlike the winter when it’s easy to throw on layer after layer of stretchy fabric, the summer presents a whole new challenge for expecting moms: coverage and coolness. Pregnancy can transform you into a metabolic furnace so make sure you’ve got the right gear for the weather. Maxi dresses, sleeveless tops and loose skirts will keep you cool and on trend in the coming months.
  2. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate! With heat waves on the horizon, we’re getting thirsty just thinking about the summer months. When you’re expecting, you need EVEN more water than usual to keep all systems moving and keep any pregnancy bloating to a minimum.
  3. Get your Audrey Hepburn on. Keep yourself safe from heatstroke and sunburns by investing in a wide brim hat and stylish sunglasses. Bonus: Even when nothing else fits, sunglasses and a glamorous hat will always cheer you up.
  4. Float away. By your third trimester, it can feel like you’re carrying a baby elephant instead of a baby. Why not give your throbbing back and feet a break by going for a (gentle) swim. So long as you have a healthy pregnancy, reclining in the pool will be a welcome relief as you suddenly become weightless!
  5. Get out of town. This one may not be so weather related. We just think that summer is the perfect time to slow down and relax before baby arrives. Grab your significant other or your best friend and plan a relaxing week at the cottage, a weekend at a bed and breakfast or a trip to your parents’ place before you’re going to be staying put for a while.

Whatever you do this summer, enjoy it! Let us know if you have any great summer survival tips for expecting moms. We always love hearing from you!
